Established in 1965, the Department of Sport is one of the oldest and most prestigious departments of the institution. In 2025, it proudly commemorates 60 years of academic excellence, leadership, and innovation in the field of physical education and sports sciences. Over the decades, the department has consistently upheld high academic standards and is recognized for its dedicated faculty, holistic approach, and student-focused programs. The department continues to nurture well-rounded individuals equipped with the knowledge and skills to excel in sports, education, and life. The Gymkhana offers extensive indoor and outdoor sports facilities, ensuring that all students have access to resources that promote physical activity and overall wellness. The institution boasts a modern and well-equipped Sports Complex that supports a wide range of sports and games, including: Indoor & Outdoor Sports: Indoor Games: Chess, Carom, Table Tennis, Badminton Team Sports: Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Cricket. Traditional & Combat Sports: Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Wrestling, Judo, Taekwondo. During the academic year, a variety of enriching and engaging activities were organized to promote holistic development among students and staff. The year began with the celebration of International Yoga Day on 21st June 2023, where students and staff participated in yoga sessions to encourage physical and mental well-being. This was followed by Sports Day on 29th August 2023, featuring numerous track and field events that fostered healthy competition and sportsmanship. On 15th January 2024, the institution hosted International Day Sports, showcasing games and activities from various cultures, celebrating diversity and unity through sports. The Annual Sports Tournament was held during January 2024, providing a platform for students to display their athletic talents in a range of sports such as football, volleyball, and badminton. To strengthen camaraderie among the faculty, a Staff Cricket Tournament was conducted on 19th February 2024, allowing staff members to engage in a spirited and friendly competition. The series of events concluded with the Annual Prize Distribution in January 2024, where outstanding achievements in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities were recognized and celebrated with awards and accolades. |
